With the first song of her debut EP coming out in January on Spotify\, produced by Liam Ramsden ( Mellah). Her background is in spoken word and punk music and this new record she focuses on her vocals and the collaboration of the band ( Liam Ramsden\, Josh Flowers and Kenny Bradley and guest vocals Naima Bock) After some down time of studio recording\, she decided to start this night to build more of a community around the music. \nJAMES HOWARD \nFellow south londoner multi instrumentalist James\, just wrote his debut LP Peek-a-Boo . He plays with the likes of Dana Gavanski\, Rozi Plain\, Alabaster DePlume\, Nuha Ruby Ra. We’re suggestin’ a fair price of £6-£10 to get you in the swing of things\, but if you’ve got a heart as big as the prairie\, don’t hold back! Feel free to toss in a little extra if you’re feelin’ plumb generous. Every penny helps\, and we sure do appreciate the support. \nWe’ll be kickin’ off the festivities with an hour of toe-tappin’ barn dancin’. Doors swing open at 7 pm\, and the dance floor comes alive at 7:30 pm. DESCRIPTION:MOON BALLOON\nThe self-described “Clown Rock” outfit hailing from South East London have long been favourites on the live circuit\, with their quirky guitar bops leaving listeners unable to refrain from a hip shake or two. Recent release ‘Don’t Turn Around’ was the first release on new imprint SelOut Records\, and featured covers of the groups tunes from other artists such as JC Palmer\, Symbol\, Soup\, and Luce Rushton. I don’t know about you\, but if you’ve got other people eager to take on your material\, something must be dead right. \nIN THE TRUNK\nA flurry of scuzzy guitars and anthemic melodies are the order of the day here. We first caught them at this very venue as part of The Ivy’s annual Beer Fest back in May and we’re thrilled to have them back. It’s familiar but wonky\, and entirely intoxicating. The self-titled 2022 EP is a perfect 20 minute snapshot of what this lot can do\, from utterly atomizing guitar breaks to Cocteau-esque vocal lines. \nNON THREATENING BOYS\nA Dreamo outfit hailing from the nooks and crannies of South East London. Having played their cards quite close to their chest thus far\, the gang have become somewhat of a blink-and-you’ll-miss-them live act\, quietly honing a sound that draws from Midwestern Emo and elements of sludgier-influence. DESCRIPTION:Faux Fancy presents a night of live music with Edwin R. Stevens\, who brings with him new album ‘God On All Fours’. Support Sam McLaughlin and Otis Jordan. \nEdwin R. Stevens \nWhat does it mean “to go straight?” How did Metallica get to ‘Nothing Else Matters’ after years of brutality? How did David Lynch come to tell his Straight Story? Like these artists\, Edwin Stevens\, long-time guitar mangler\, distorted punk waste merchant and fecally-obsessed author has loped off his gnarly edges and protrusions to reveal something not straight\, perhaps\, but something approaching pure and recognisable. ‘God On All Fours’ is Stevens’ “straightest” album to date and by far his bravest and most approachable. Edwin R. Stevens’ “straight story” turns out to be a masterclass in storytelling. \nOtis Jordan & Sam McLoughlin \nImprovisational multi-instrumentalist Otis Jordan deftly collages together folk\, psyche and jazz. Recent releases include his beautiful 2022 album\, ‘Restless Guests’. Released on Them There records and recorded at Green Door Studio\, Glasgow\, this record saw Jordan working with Molly Linen\, Finn Rosenbaum\, Sam Mcloughlin and Dan Bridgewood-Hill for a single day session and of first takes only. \nSam A. McLoughlin is a songwriter and electronic artist from the North West of England\, His music takes a cut and paste aesthetic\, piecing together short sketches and home-recorded ideas into long tracks\, mixing everything from wyrd folk\, Kraut\, tropicalia\, experimentation and a strong DIY aesthetic. \nMcLoughlin has released four EPs on Folklore Tapes and is a regular contributor to the label’s compilations. He also records under the names Tongues Of Light\, Samandtheplants (formerly with Alison Cooper of Magpahi) and N.Racker\, and is a member of NeoTantrik.
