Stevens \nWhat does it mean “to go straight?” How did Metallica get to ‘Nothing Else Matters’ after years of brutality? How did David Lynch come to tell his Straight Story? Like these artists\, Edwin Stevens\, long-time guitar mangler\, distorted punk waste merchant and fecally-obsessed author has loped off his gnarly edges and protrusions to reveal something not straight\, perhaps\, but something approaching pure and recognisable. ‘God On All Fours’ is Stevens’ “straightest” album to date and by far his bravest and most approachable. Edwin R. Stevens’ “straight story” turns out to be a masterclass in storytelling. \nOtis Jordan & Sam McLoughlin \nImprovisational multi-instrumentalist Otis Jordan deftly collages together folk\, psyche and jazz. Recent releases include his beautiful 2022 album\, ‘Restless Guests’. Released on Them There records and recorded at Green Door Studio\, Glasgow\, this record saw Jordan working with Molly Linen\, Finn Rosenbaum\, Sam Mcloughlin and Dan Bridgewood-Hill for a single day session and of first takes only. \nSam A. McLoughlin is a songwriter and electronic artist from the North West of England\, His music takes a cut and paste aesthetic\, piecing together short sketches and home-recorded ideas into long tracks\, mixing everything from wyrd folk\, Kraut\, tropicalia\, experimentation and a strong DIY aesthetic. \nMcLoughlin has released four EPs on Folklore Tapes and is a regular contributor to the label’s compilations. He also records under the names Tongues Of Light\, Samandtheplants (formerly with Alison Cooper of Magpahi) and N.Racker\, and is a member of NeoTantrik.

DESCRIPTION:Freak Power Records are back with another evening of the best alternative pop. \nWhite Devil Disco – Formerly the bassist of Fat White Family\, Curly Joe has come back with a new hypnotic project. WDD create gothic pop that gestures to the later records of Leonard Cohen cut through with tremulous guitars\, deep anthemic bass and troubling synthesisers. A compelling formula\, brazen in its disregard for normal values but naturally attuned to harmony of pop music. \nADAM & ELVIS – Their debut gained them attention from Steve Lamacq of BBC 6 Music playing The Artiste and NuWave Hippie on several occasions and remarking on the wry lyricism as something deserving more attention. Their second album Pub Grub which saw them embrace more abrasive elements of post punk and the troubadour stylings of singers like Tony Bennet allowed them to tour the country before facing the brick wall that was lockdown \nKS and the Mystery Jet Set – new band from legendry DJ\, dancer and all performer Khalid Siddiqui. With some of London’s finest virtuoso’s behind him Khalid and the band recorded the debut album ‘Play Something We Like’. The band will be performing songs from the record. \nItalia 90 (DJ set) – front man Les Mis is back again\, spinning a selection of vinyl from 7pm until close at midnight.

DESCRIPTION:HMS Morris are an art-rock group from Wales. They’ve been touring and recording since 2015\, and are supported by the Cardiff-based Bubblewrap Collective. Their 2 full-length albums to date (2016’s ‘Interior Design’ and 2018’s ‘Inspirational Talks’) both earned nominations for the Welsh Music Prize\, and were variously described as ‘Innovative\, forward thinking pop music’ (Earthly Pleasures)\, ‘strange and beautiful music’ (ElectronicSound) and a ‘multi-dimensional sound that traipses across hitherto unexplored regions ofsound’ (Clash)’. Their third album\, Dollar Lizard Money Zombie (to be released 15/9/23) is a playful repudiation of the worldview that reduces 99% of us to brain dead money zombies\, labouring for the glory of the empires of a few giant dollar lizards. There will be a coatcheck for a £1 but cash only so please come prepared if you’re planning on using it.
