There will be a coatcheck for a £1 but cash only so please come prepared if you’re planning on using it.

DESCRIPTION:To celebrate 10 years of community ownership\, The Ivy House is proud to present a series of shows highlighting some of our favourite artists and friends from around South London and beyond. \nOn Saturday 23rd September we’re closing out the Summer with a massive all-dayer to mark this auspicious occasion\, helped along by some of our favourite acts and pals from around the city. \n– \nSECRET HEADLINER \nMore details soon… \nBLOOD WIZARD \nStraddling a divide between spacious rural folk and urban post-punk claustrophobia\, Blood Wizard’s debut single Car Crash\, released late 2019\, was a prelude to what is shaping up to be a true blossoming of the song writing abilities of Nottingham-based musician Cai Burns. Although also a member of Nottingham’s punk trio Kagoule (Alcopop! / Earache Records)\, Blood Wizard arrives with no fixed direction – instead it offers a platform for Burns to explore himself as an artist beyond boundaries and pre-conceptions. It’s a project that’s bubbled up from within\, always there in his writing for other projects but now emerging fully formed in its own entity. At its roots Blood Wizard is steeped in the warm familiarity of folk music; yet within its textures\, deft melodies and quick witted storytelling\, there’s an atypicality to its song structures\, and a tightening and loosening – like breathing – between harder-edged sounds and more softly acoustic wanderings. \nSUEP \nSUEP return to our stage armed with their unique brand of “car boot sale pop”\, after releasing their album Shop at the beginning of this year. While the group includes members from acts such as The Tubs\, Porridge Radio and Garden Centre\, they distil and entirely distinct hip-shaking sound in this formation. Rooted in wonky noises and delicious tweaker rhythms\, we’ve had the pleasure of dancing the night away with this quintet many a time before here in the Ivy House ballroom\, and we can’t wait to do it all over again. \nLEATHER.HEAD \nSweltering post-jazz-punk that will tear the seams of your shirt apart. Leather.head existed solely as a blink-and-you’ll-miss-them live act until the release of 2022 single ‘Hordes’\, which saw new eyes drawn to the already fine-tuned machine the group is known to be. As just as they are noisy members are involved and run the DIY music and activism outfit Solidarity Tapes\, who stand for\, amongst other things\, migrant justice and trans liberation. A perfect example of power in community\, we can’t wait to share the room once more. \nBAGGIO \nSomething of an urban legend\, Baggio have managed to write the anthems of a generation before even getting them down on record. Principal songwriter Ben Wyborn presents musings on South London life\, love\, the day-to-day beauty and filth we all experience but are perhaps in too much of a rush to take in. Whether solo or armed with a 9-strong band\, Baggio present blistering escape and tender reflection that spans from americana to diy-pop. \n– \nDoors: 17:00 \nMusic Starts: 18:00 \nMusic Ends: 23:00

The duo have mastered the art of crafting arresting tunes driven by shrewdly compelling riffs and percussion so immediate that it’s physically impossible to ignore. Releasing mini album ‘Sugar\, Daddy’ in 2022\, Scrounge will be fresh off a Summer season of festival appearances in the UK and Europe\, ready to blow your minds away into the stratosphere. \nheadboy \nheadboy are a North London trio who have been establishing themselves on the live circuit with their eclectic and often thought-provoking sounds and fun\, memorable lyrics. Boasting an engaging and shoegazy sound\, there is a really charming and affable feel to the outfit and this personality bleeds from their work. \nMy Fat Pony \nSugar-grunge four-piece My Fat Pony\, possibly the hardest working band in the city\, return to our stage complete with their matching t-shirts and boundless energy. Starting out with homespun recordings and YouTube covers\, by the time they moved to London in their late-teens\, they had formed an unshakeable creative bond that is proving an incredible bedrock for them to flourish from. Late-2021 saw them release their exceptional debut EP Sleep Country and they recently released their new EP\, I Don’t Like My Chances On The Outside\, a truly brilliant follow-up that underscores that we’re no longing talking about promise with this duo. They’re firmly in their stride\, deftly counterbalancing delicate moments and harmony-led pop highs across a full-bodied band sound. DESCRIPTION:On July 27th\, from 6PM till late join Goldsmiths UCU and allies at the Ivy House for a night of music and comradeship in support of Rob and of all precarious Goldsmiths workers \nAfter years of unparalleled academic and political work at Goldsmiths\, our colleague\, friend\, teacher\, caseworker\, and union branch co-Secretary Roberto Mozzachiodi was denied his redundancy rights and forced to leave Goldsmiths. Rob’s story mirrors that of thousands across the country employed on temporary\, fixed-term\, and precarious contracts whose rights as workers are routinely trampled on. \nThis night is for showing solidarity to Rob and all workers like him who are struggling for their rights. We’ll have amazing speakers from SE London and beyond\, with whom to think about experiences of precarity in work and life and strategies to collectivize our resistance. We’ll also have great music and a most excellent raffle to raise funds for the Goldsmiths Mutual-Aid Fund\, which since 2020 has supported precarious workers at Goldsmiths through the Covid-19 pandemic and several rounds of industrial action. Can’t wait to see you there !

DESCRIPTION:Oxford based label and promotion Divine Schism take over The Ivy House for the first time\, bringing with them a sweltering line-up. \nKONE make art music for guitars. The three members write collectively for guitars\, voice and drums\, treating each instrument equally. Their songs are sparse\, heavy and dance-like – built from shifting\, interlocking patterns. \nJunodefriginally formed by Karin and Tyra when they met in highschool in Lund\, Sweden\, Norea joined the band after they put a call out for a last minute drummer to join them for a show. Since then\, Junodef have been honing their sound as a trio. “We started as punk musicians with strong connections in the DIY-scene. We would put on gigs ourselves\, press CD’s and record in various basements just to learn as much as we could on a zero budget!” Having made a name for themselves in Sweden\, the band decided to relocate to London to push themselves to new heights with their music. Since then\, Junodef have toured with Editors in Europe and supported bands like Blonde Redhead\, Emma Ruth Rundle and Goat Girl. \nJunodef’s new music showcases the band at their most authentic. The beauty in the way that Junodef craft their sound is their ability to combine the strengths and influences from each band member\, effortlessly weaving together a sound that is transcendent of genre yet deeply personal to the band. \nWith their new EP ‘Catastrophical’ set for release on 16 June\, 2023 shows no signs of slowing down for the multi-faceted trio\, watch this space. \nMeredith are a brand new gloom grunge ensemble!

All band names and song titles are suggested by the audience\, and the Top Ten All Star Band them creates them all live on the spot\, completely improvised and completely brand new. Never heard before and never to be heard again! The night is peppered with ridiculous games and rousing sing-alongs to rile the audience into a state of delirious glee! We even invite guest vocalists from the audience! This is impro with music. Spontaneous\, edgy and exhilarating\, and complete with a recap of all of the tunes of the night to the Top of the Pops theme A whole lot of Love by Led Zeppelin. \nThe Top Ten All Stars includes; Georgia Duncan\, Holly Jacks\, Raevennan Husbandes\, Brendan Chitty\, Barney Keen\, Blythe Pepino\, Stewart Mystery\, Nat Keen\, David Johnston\, Liam Ramsden and Tiff Wear. \nThis event will be a fundraiser for Coffittee\, the Forest School Camps Inclusion Committee\, that is dedicated to providing supported experiences of camping and community building in nature for young people and adults who have high support needs. All the musicians are performing for free\, and all profits will go towards buying a new marquee for the inclusion camps.
